Understanding anxiety disorders and how to help someone who is having a panic attack
Understanding psychosis and how to help someone who experiences psychotic episodes
Understanding self-injury and how to help someone move on from the practice
Suicide intervention skills
Listening skills
How to have positive mental health - increasing and releasing the neurotransmitters that are necessary for good brain health.

All delegates will receive a certificate indicating the number of CPD hours completed and they will also receive a digital booklet with all the course information.   Other resources on all of the subjects covered can be made available on request.

As well as our two-day mental health awareness training course, we also provide various shorter training sessions ranging from 90 minutes to 3 hours.   These sessions can be chosen from modules delivered on the two-day course.
Other training modules available are “Stress Management” and “Understanding Grief, Loss and Anxiety”

Mark Fleming

Picture
Our director and senior trainer, Mark Fleming (pictured above) has spent his entire working life providing pastoral care in the community.   He has also provided training in pastoral care within professional football for over 20 years, and this has made him particularly effective in delivering mental health training in any performance/results driven industry.

Currently, he is an official supplier of mental health awareness training to NHS National Services Scotland and the SPFL Trust/Chris Mitchell Foundation.

He has provided in-house mental health awareness training at a range of football clubs, including Liverpool FC, Celtic FC, Heart of Midlothian FC, Hibernian FC and Aberdeen FC.    He has delivered training for sporting governing bodies such as the English Football Association, Scottish Football Association, Scottish Rugby Union and the Camanachd Association.

He has also provided mental health training for a range of other organisations such as HSBC, SSE, SKY and Compassion UK.

Our training provides  peace of mind over legislation, but much more than that, it ensures you are doing all that you can to provide due care for staff, taking greater care over their health and training, instilling a positive working atmosphere and avoiding the potential negative impact of a tragedy. We would be delighted to provide sensitive, relevant training for your organisation.

Here are some quotes:

“There is more to caring for footballers than sorting out a knee injury or planning a coaching session.  The mental wellbeing of a player is as important as being able to ping a 40 yard pass! The training is excellent, interactive and engaging.”
Dr Jim Moxon, Liverpool FC Doctor

“Excellent and very worthwhile course. As a general physician I found the contextual discussion around football invaluable. Promotion of mental health was powerful.”
Stuart Patterson, Cumbernauld Colts FC Doctor

“The mental health training was stimulating and enjoyable – and what I learned over the two days has already proven incredibly useful at work and at home. I have no doubt its effectiveness can be attributed to the enthusiasm and knowledge of the trainer, who led the course in a sensitive yet light-hearted manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mark’s training to others.”
David Hamilton, Strategic Football Lead, Scottish Government

I found Mark’s training very informative and interesting.  It has definitely improved my mental health awareness and skills to support and improve my services on our projects at Celtic FC Foundation.
Gillian Gallagher, Health & Fitness Coach/Coordinator, Celtic FC Foundation
·
A really insightful and beneficial course. Not only for being a coach in the Community but also as a player in the SPFL and now feeling confident to talk to teammates and staff to help and assist with any personal issues.
David Galt, Partick Thistle Charitable Trust

The training we received will be a useful tool to have to work with players, staff and the wider community on mental health issues. Already since the training we have been able to use the skill to help one of our coaches and get the help he needed.  I would recommend anyone in the football industry to get booked on the course and gain the tools to help and support to understand mental health issues.  Mark helped make the training relevant to football and his attitude and the way he delivered the course was very positive and inspiring.”
Paul Doig, Head of Community Development, Raith Rovers FC

“Mark’s presentation methods were excellent and enjoyable to be a part of.  Each subject was thoroughly explained using a number of methods, including PowerPoint, videos and scenarios.  Everything about the course was both professional and bespoke to our group.  Thoroughly recommend it!!”
Stuart Forsyth, Church Youth Worker

“It covered subjects I was not so familiar with and will help with work at NHS, I also work privately as a hypnotherapist and it will help with my work.  Mark was generous in sharing his life experiences.”
Johan MacIver, Health Information Advisor, NHS 24

“Mark provided very useful non-NHS examples of mental health related problems and solutions.  Really interesting, it enabled me to better appreciate how to deal with people with mental health issues and understand first aid approaches to offer appropriate support.”
Lynn Cree, environmental health adviser at NHS National Services Scotland
